After a duck in the first game of the ongoing T20 tri-series which India lost to Sri Lanka, today India took own Bangladesh in the second game of the Nidahas Trophy. India made a decision to send in Rishabh Pant ahead of Suresh Raina to join Shikhar Dhawan at the crease.

Shikhar Dhawan (55) recorded his second successive fifty to lead India's charge, with Manish Pandey's 19-ball 27 not out getting the job done with eight deliveries remaining.

When Sri Lanka Cricket chose to celebrate 70 years of the country's independence with the Nidahas Trophy Twenty20 global tournament, they knew instantly that big brother from across the Palk Straits had to be involved.

India has thrashed Bangladesh by 6 wickets as the men in blue registered their first victory in the tournament.

Earlier Bangladesh's batting faltered with only Liton Das, who top-scored with 34 and Sabbir Rahman, who hit 30 off 26 balls, giving some respectability to the total. "Right from the start to the end, it was clinical and a complete team effort", India skipper Rohit Sharma said after the win.

Unadkat made the breakthrough with a short ball to Sarkar and he caught Tamim Iqbal (15) off Shardul Thakur (1-25) at short fine leg as Bangladesh lost their opening duo within the powerplay.

Set a target of 140 runs to win in their 20 overs India were never really tested in their chase thanks to the steady runscoring of Dhawan. He and Dhawan forged a match-winning partnership of 68 runs before Rubel Hossain took his wicket, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking a wonderful catch. Forty-six per cent of the deliveries they faced didn't fetch them a run.

Dhawan hit five fours and two sixes in his 43-ball knock before he became the final wicket to fall, holing out at long on off paceman Taskin Ahmed. "We want to get better as a fielding side", Rohit signed off.

"We didn't bat well".

In the game against India, the Bangladesh innings had plenty of dot balls and their inability to rotate strike in the middle overs was a huge factor in their loss.

"In the post-match presentation, he said", I think it was a great performance, something that was expected from us. "I think we need a game in which we can do everything right to gain the confidence and we are waiting for that momentum and if we get that you will see a different Bangladesh team".
