CSA's statement quoted president Chris Nenzani as saying‚ "On behalf of CSA I extend my honest apologies to the board of Cricket Australia‚ its officials‚ team management‚ players and their families".

Following the dressing room boilover between Australian vice-captain David Warner and South African batsman Quinton de Kock in the first Test, images have now been revealed by Fairfax which appear to show two senior Cricket South Africa employees at the second Test posing with fans wearing masks depicting rugby star, Sonny Bill Williams. "They said "let's take a photo with you guys". Eksteen and Kazi are wearing shirts and ties and their official cricket accreditations. According to him, the mask-wearing fans were not allowed inside the stadium initially, but somehow managed to contact him and Eksteen.

CSA said Eksteen and Kazi were now subject to "internal processes". "On behalf of CSA I extend my honest apologies to the board of Cricket Australia (CA), its officials, team management, players and their families", commented CSA President Chris Nenzani in a CSA statement.

The Australian team has been made aware of the photo and are outraged by it, as well as CSA's call to overturn a decision by venue security to have the masks confiscated in bags at the turnstiles on entry.

Candice Warner gained recognition in Australia as an "Ironwoman" endurance athlete.

The mask saga in Port Elizabeth is the latest incident to overshadow the cricket contest between two of the leading teams in the world, a series which was expected to be fierce but has been undermined by verbal exchanges between players, off-field incidents, and resulting disciplinary cases.

"Us South Africans, we stand together and we're out here for de Kock".
