A 16-year-old Pennsylvania girl and a 45-year-old man were found Mexico on Saturday, March 17, after the pair allegedly ran off together nearly two weeks ago, authorities said.

Kevin Esterly and Amy Yu were both taken into custody Saturday, according to Allentown police.

Mexican authorities issued an Amber Alert in the case on Thursday.

She and Kevin Esterly, the man police say she willingly ran away with, were escorted to Miami by US Homeland Security Investigations agents and the US Marshals Service. Yu will be reunited with her mother in Allentown.

Esterly's wife Stacy Esterly, in a statement released through a lawyer to the Allentown Morning Call, said that she and her husband fought about his relationship with Yu.

- February 15: Allentown police investigators visit Esterly and his wife, Stacey, at their Allentown home and advises them both to stay away from Yu and that the girl's mother didn't want them to have any further contact with her.

Luu discovered after her daughter vanished that she had taken some of jewelry, her passport and cash. She instead went to the Philadelphia International Airport with Esterly, where he bought the one-way tickets, Lake said.

Yu is friends with one of Esterly's four daughters, with Amy's family saying the pair met initially at church years ago.

The police were to be notified if Esterly returned to the school, Mauser said. It was believed Amy boarded her school bus that morning, but police said they later found out she never got on her bus.

Secret details surrounding the relationship between Yu and Esterly began to surface after the pair disappeared on March 5.

Esterly reportedly checked Yu out of Lehigh Valley Academy Charter School nine times between November 2017 and February of this year.

Kevin Esterly was angry, John Yu said, and denied his relationship with Amy.

- Saturday: Authorities in Mexico find Yu and Esterly at the Playa del Carmen resort near Cancun and arrest Esterly on suspicion of child custody interference.

March 16: Allentown police confirm that they believe Esterly and Yu flew to Cancun, Mexico.
