After a big shake up with revelations about Facebook data leak and then shedding light on the nexus between Cambridge Analytica (CA) and Indian political parties, whistleblower and firm director Christopher Wylie shared a list of Strategic Communication Laboratory (SCL) Group's Indian projects.
Political data analytics firm CambridgeAnalytica still has not deleted the entirety of the Facebook user data it acquired through questionable means in 2015 despite requests that it do so, Channel 4 News reported.
CambridgeAnalytica, the company at the centre of a data breach controversy, had its operations in Kerala also, revealed Christopher Wylie, a former employee of the company, who blew the lid off the scam.
"They are an example of what modern-day colonialism looks like", Wylie testified.
It said the company has a database of over 600 districts and seven lakh villages.
It further said the CA on behalf of a national party had analysed caste structure and dynamics within Uttar Pradesh during 2012 state elections.
On 27 March, Wylie had alleged that the company had worked extensively in India and believed it was employed by the Congress party.
The newly released documents sparked an outcry in India, where the government formally asked both CambridgeAnalytica and Facebook in the past week whether Indian citizens' personal data had been compromised or used to affect the outcome of elections. Its reach in India is said to include a head office in Ghaziabad, with nine regional offices in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Cuttack, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Patna and Pune.
He had also mentioned that he believes Congress party was one of its clients. I don't remember a national project but I know regionally.
CambridgeAnalytica CEO Alexander Nix is so cartoonishly rich he allegedly once left a meeting to "pick up a £200,000 chandelier", whistleblower Christopher Wylie told United Kingdom parliament during a Tuesday hearing. "Obviously, that's a country which is rife with political discord opportunities for destabilization", Labour MP Paul Farrelly, member of the parliamentary committees said during Wylie's questioning. "We had challenged the government to register an FIR against Facebook, lodge an FIR against CA, lodge an FIR against their Indian partners", said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.
The SCL India carried out research for a "major state party" in Rajasthan in 2003. But the man who was in charge of the Colorado group that used the firm during the 2014 election says neither he nor the group possesses the data.
If Christopher Wylie came to me personally and told me anything my reaction would be "hmmmmmmmmmmm" the pink hair and pierced nose would give me cause for concern, but the mainstream media have taken his word as gospel and the Trump Victory as well as the BREXIT Vote were all manipulated by CambridgeAnalytica where Christopher Wylie worked. "The whistleblower has publicly confirmed that the Congress was indeed their client", Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
Wylie, who exposed the data breach scandal involving Facebook, attached a document to his Twitter post, detailed the company's India operations, a day after his testimony to the United Kingdom parliament.
