In the interview with NRATV host Colion Noir, which was recorded a week before the marches, Mike talked about arming his daughter, a college student at Savannah State University where there was a shooting past year, and making sure she was trained to use a gun.

Rapper and activist Killer Mike is apologizing to Florida students after facing intense pushback for his pro-gun interview on NRA TV.

- Britni Danielle (@BritniDWrites) March 24, 2018The NRA has already shown how they feel about Black people in their response to Philando Castile's murder. We need a relentless, powerful collective vision and voice joining with young people who are unafraid to lead the way.

- Philip Lewis (@Phil_Lewis_) March 25, 2018I have to respond publicly because your NRA video was public. And after Sanders lost the Democratic primary, he discouraged liberal voters from supporting Hillary Clinton, telling fans that "If you're voting for Trump or Hillary Clinton, you're voting for the same thing".

"If you're not in a reciprocal relationship, why are you in this relationship?" he said in part.

"People are accusing you of being a lackey of the NRA". He advised his kids against the walkout. "I told my kids on the school walkout, 'I love you but if you walk out that school, walk out my house'".

I don't understand Killer Mike's NRATV comments.

"I sat with people I might not always agree with". 2A yes. 1A no?

Twitter user Mike Ziemer had a little different take, he said, "There is a very intelligent conversation that needs to be had to improve our country, but that conversation needs to take into account all view points". He claimed he told his son to not walk out because he is "failing math".

In his second video, Mike adds, "My interview with said organization who we all don't agree with was supposed to be something that continued a conversation, or that helped a conversation happen that I felt needed to happen". "[It was used to] disparage a very noble campaign that I actually support", he said.

Mike, a longtime advocate of black gun ownership, has since apologized for the way that the NRA timed the release of that interview, using it against this weekend's March For Our Lives protests. I wanted to make sure I was clear in what I was saying and I wanted to make sure that you knew that what I did had nothing to do with disparaging you.
