It seems like only yesterday that they were chowing down on Tide pods in a quest for internet notoriety, but now they have found a new and bad viral trend to focus their social media presence on: The Condom Challenge. People attempting the condom-snorting challenge try to shove and inhale an unwrapped condom into one nostril, and then pull it back out through their mouth. This freakish challenge is nothing new; the earliest recording of a person snorting a condom was back in 2007.

A more recent report from 2016 found a woman suffered from appendicitis after she accidentally swallowed a condom during oral sex and a piece of it lodged in her appendix. It's the latest in a string of ill-conceived social media competitions, and we're here to remind you that condoms do have a place in your life, but it's not in your nose.

"Because these days our teens are doing everything for likes, views and subscribers, " Enriquez added.

'As graphic as it is, we have to show parents because teens are going online looking for challenges and recreating them.

The challenge presents a serious risk to the health of anyone who performs it.

But doctors and school officials are urging young people not to take the challenge.

Bruce Y. Lee, associate professor of global health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, wrote a column about the fad for Forbes.

'Would it really be worth all that just to get more likes and views?' .

Move over Tide Pods: another idiotic challenge is gaining popularity online.

The Tide Pod challenge is a unsafe social media trend that involves the consumption of Tide Pods on social media videos. That led to a rash of poisonings, with 142 reported by poison-control centers in January alone. A condom, comprised of latex, rubber and covered in spermicide, can damage the inner lining of the nose.
