Cavaliers welcome Tyronn Lue back with 119-115 shocker over Wizards

Sergio Cook | 06 April, 2018, 10:56

Lue announced on March 19 that he was taking a leave of absence to address health issues, which included chest pains and problems sleeping.

Since Lue clearly has the respect and support of LeBron and the entire Cavaliers organization, his presence only makes Cleveland more cohesive as they look to make a run at their fourth-straight NBA Finals appearance. "Having LeBron's validation, just being like, "I got it. Take some time off, get yourself ready for the playoffs".

Lue said he should have taken a medical leave of absence much sooner, but was reluctant to leave the team when it was in the midst of serious injuries or after it made moves at the February 8 trade deadline. I just think the past few weeks, we've been playing good ball.

The Cavs, who have been ravaged by injuries all season, hardly missed a beat without Lue, going 8-1 under assistant Larry Drew.

Regardless, it's good to see Lue back on the sidelines. He's our championship coach, so he knows everything about our team. "But just his command, having him back out there, it's going to be good for us".

Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue will resume duties at courtside later on Thursday after recovering from his recent health concerns. But with four games to go, they are just a half-game ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers for third.

Wizards: Wall lost weight during his recovery, and coach Scott Brooks said that should help the All-Star going forward.

The 40-year-old Lue is coming back with four games left in the regular season and the Cavs clinging to the No. 3 seed in the postseason.

"All the love and support was very humbling because a lot of coaches from around the league called and [texted]", Lue said. Just about everyone else has gotten a chance. While the Cavaliers are in unfamiliarity territory, unable to clinch home court advantage with a two finish in the regular, they are a nightmare match up for any team falling inside the bubble which they now occupy, made all the more unsafe by the return of Lue.

More important, he now realizes there are more important things than worrying about Cleveland's rotation, defending the pick and roll or getting the Cavs back to the NBA Finals.

"It's important for us to finish healthy", Lue said. "And other coaches stepped up and they've been doing a great job also".

James feels the same way.

"We all noticed his health wasn't where he'd like it to be or where it should be for him to be living an everyday life, let alone be coaching an National Basketball Association franchise", James said. "We're happy he's in a great place now".
