"We called the cops again and told them there is a reason she went all the way from San Diego to there so she might do something". "She was a nice person, until today".

Aghdam's family became anxious over the weekend after she stopped answering her phone. Nasim was born in 1979 during the Iranian Revolution when women's rights were severely restricted, forbidding women to show any skin but their face and hands. "There is no free speech in the real world and you will be suppressed for telling the truth that is not supported by the system". She had built a following for her vegan-centric videos, reaching more than 3.2 million viewers in 2016.

Mountain View police objected to that characterization and in a statement Wednesday detailed their exchange with Aghdam's family.

She told Vegan Idea World: "From a very young age I used to care about the animals and their welfare, and think about the source of meat and where it came from and I knew that the fried chicken on my dinner plate once was a lovely yellow chick".

"Life is attractive if we know what the word attractive really means!"

She had more than 5,000 subscribers on her most popular YouTube channel, had multiple channels as well as an Instagram page.

Police have previously said Aghdam went to a gun range before arriving at YouTube.

"She was a weirdo", said one neighbor, who would only give her name as Lucy.

She explained she'd left home due to family problems and remained calm throughout the conversation, Mountain View Police Chief Max Bosel said. He said he wasn't sure if his store - a long nondescript beige brick building next to an auto dealership, with palm trees surrounding the front entrance - had been contacted by law enforcement but said they would cooperate in any investigation.

"From that age I started opposing eating meat and wearing animal skin, and what my family and other people said in order to discourage me had no effect on me because I had faith that my belief was true and that meat is not a food of compassion and kindness". "It was like she was staring me down". Neighbor John Rundell said he spoke to Aghdam's father after the shooting. She once told Rundell that her pet rabbit was unhappy and asked where he got his.

Investigators declined to say why they were there.

Aghdam walked onto the YouTube property through a parking garage and it's not clear whether she encountered any security.

"Youtube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!" one of the messages said.

Aghdam had frequently posted her own videos under a pseudonym on the platform - featuring a vast array of eclectic content, from exercise instruction to pop music parodies, spoken in English, Farsi and Turkish - and she said YouTube had begun "filtering" those videos to reduce the number of views and her advertising revenue. Her mother broke down when it was brought up that the day of the interview, Thursday, would have been her 39th birthday.

Aghdam "hated" YouTube and was angry that the company stopped paying her for videos she posted, Ismail Aghdam told the Bay Area News Group.

Aghdam, who posted a mishmash of workout videos, rants against animal cruelty and vegan cooking tips on YouTube, detailed her frustrations in videos and posts on her website and social media accounts, which have since been deleted.

Nasim Aghdam, who posted videos under the online name Nasime Sabz, opened fire at YouTube on Tuesday, wounding three people before killing herself.

"I don't know what concerns were conveyed to that police department, or how or where those concerns were relayed to".

"Today it feels like the entire community of YouTube, all of the employees, were victims of this crime", said Chris Dale, a spokesman for YouTube.

"I am sorry. I can't believe it", he told reporters Wednesday.
