News of Zuckerberg's secretive message deletion comes in the midst of widespread criticism for Facebook's role in political analytics firm Cambridge Analytica improperly accessing the private information of over 87 million users around the world.

Right after this report was posted, the company announced that the ability to retract a message will soon be available to all Messenger users.

The researcher then sold the data to Cambridge Analytica, which was against Facebook rules.

There might be more breaches of Facebook users' personal data even as the social media network grapples with acute criticism over its data leak scandal.

Whether or not you pay much attention to the stock market, you probably couldn't help but notice headlines today about Facebook, Inc. shares dropping dramatically due to issues involving user privacy. Now, a spokesperson for Facebook has confirmed the addition of a new "unsend' feature which will allow you delete messages just like Zuckerberg does". Regular Facebook users aren't able to delete their own messages from other people's Messenger inbox, and a special process was applied to Facebook executives.

The US tech giant has admitted its boss Mark Zuckerberg has been secretly using a tool to delete his messages in other users' inboxes for several years without telling recipients. "I'm not going to sit here and say that we're not going to find more [breaches], because we are", she said. Do you think Facebook Messenger will be the same if unsending messages becomes a common feature?

Facebook's reputation took another hit this week, with the revelation that the company sent a doctor on a secret mission to top United States hospitals, to try and convince them to share private patient data.

"We know that we did not do enough to protect people's data", Sandberg told NPR. As a result it's likely to take some time for the full facts to come out.

Facebook, facing enormous pressure over the scandal, said Friday it had suspended AggregateIQ pending further investigation. "Mark (Zuckerberg) is really sorry for that, and what we're doing now is taking really firm action".
