The Crown Prince will attend a luncheon banquet to be hosted by King Felipe VI at the royal palace in Madrid.

It also singled out Saudi support for Iraq's fallen dictator Saddam Hussein in his 1980-1988 war against Iran, its military intervention in Yemen since 2015 and its apparent rapprochement with Israel.

"Our position is that those who are responsible for the use of chemical weapons must be held accountable and be brought to justice", Adel al-Jubeir told reporters in Paris during a visit by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The conservative kingdom will be represented at the Cannes Film Festival for the first time next month.

If Iran builds a nuclear bomb, "we will be in an extremely unsafe situation", the crown prince said.

Deepening commerce and investment is beneficial to the two countries' economies, as the Kingdom Vision 2030 is an opportunity to explore new domains, in business and cooperation in the main sectors for cooperation such as water and environment, connected sustainable cities, transport, energy, health, agriculture and water supply. Several rights groups also have warned of possible legal action if the government does not halt its sales.

The complaint also alleged that civilian targets have been deliberately attacked by Saudi aircraft carrying out strikes in Yemen.

Ahead of prince Mohammed's trip to France, Saudi officials suggested relations were strong between him and Macron, both young leaders with reformist agendas.

Macron waded into a regional crisis last November when Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri tendered his resignation on live television from Riyadh, apparently under pressure from the crown prince.

Prince Saud al-Faisal, who served as Saudi Arabia's foreign minister for 40 years until his death, was a regular visitor to the French capital, where he stayed in the lap of luxury. During a Tuesday press conference in Paris, Bin Salman and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed to curb what they called Iran's "expansionism" in the region.
