BJP MPs starting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed a day-long fast against the continuous disruption of the budget session of the Parliament by opposition parties. The CPI contingent included its State assistant secretary JV Satyanarayana Murthy, and leaders AJ Stalin and Vimala. "The Congress knew very well that they can not debate in any of the Houses so they did not let the Parliament function". The party also declared expenditures accruing to Rs 710.057 crore during 2016-17 while Congress incurred an expenditure of Rs 321.66 crore which is Rs 96.30 crore more than its income for the same period.
Launching a counter-attack on Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the grand old party of not letting the country to move forward. More than Rs 606 crore, or almost 59 per cent, of the total expenditure incurred by the BJP was spent on election-related activities and propaganda.
He attached Modi's travel schedule in Tamil Nadu, that showed that the Prime Minister would be having his breakfast on board the IAF BBJ at 6.40 a.m. Later, the BJP leaders will have meals prepared from cereals collected from the farmers and their families to express solidarity.
