Facebook F8 2018: Facebook's way to save its face Facebook is working on a dating feature

In addition to summarizing actions already taken, Zuckerberg announced Facebook would be rolling out a Clear History tool that would let users clear their browsing history on the platform and see all the apps they had interacted with.

Zuckerberg also announced Facebook is launching a "Clear History", feature that will allow users to clear their search history and eliminate past information from websites and apps.

"We designed this with privacy and safety in mind", said Zuckerberg.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg appears to be striking the right tone at the f8 developer conference - a mix of humor, seriousness and grit that is giving industry analysts some confidence he can navigate the company out of its latest privacy scandal. He said he sees Groups as essential to Facebook's vision and wants to empower Group leaders with tools to more effectively lead their communities. "It will be a simple control to clear your browsing history on Facebook - what you've clicked on, websites you've visited, and so on".

"What happened with Cambridge Analytica was a major breach of trust", said Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg showed a video of himself testifying before Congress, with a conversation happening alongside it. "Let's not do that again any time soon", he said to laughs.

Facebook also made the surprise announcement that its portable VR headset - Oculus Go - would go on sale in the USA on Tuesday, priced $199 (£146). With that, he summarized a handful of new Facebook products like a new dating service, augmented reality and virtual reality gadgets like its new Oculus Go headset, and new ways to video chat with friends on the Facebook-owned photo sharing service Instagram.

At the very least, Spaces is more successful than failed Facebook projects like Slingshot (its Snapchat competitor) and its smartphone the First - at least for now.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg kicked off his company's annual developer conference acknowledging that 2018 has been an "intense year" just four months in.

"We will make mistakes, and they will have consequences, and we will need to fix them", he said.

At F8 developer conference today, Facebook announced that they are working on a dating feature that can be used inside Facebook itself. You may have to sign back in to every website, and you may have to reconfigure things.

"There are 200 million people on Facebook that list themselves as single, so clearly there's something to do here", Zuckerberg said.

Either way, a Facebook dating app would do gangbusters, as the sheer amount of data the company has on people would make matchmaking a snap.
