Telangana BJP unit president Dr K Laxman condemned the hurling of stone by TDP activists on the convoy of BJP President Amit Shah in Tirupati on Friday.

TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu broke away from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government this year after failing to get more central funds.

Police have detained the TDP activists who hurled stones at the convoy.

BJP workers following Shah's convoy resisted the TDP workers, resulting in clashes. The group threw stones on his auto at Alipiri gate when Amit Shah was on his way to Tirupathi from airport along with his family. "It is against our party discipline". The workers squatted on the road and shouted slogans saying "Amit Shah Go Back", "We want justice" and "Give us special category status".

Tirupati Urban Superintendent of Police Abhishek Mohanty told PTI that they were investigating the incident. The political hostility has turned into animosity between both party leaders after the TDP walked out of the NDA and also withdrew its MPs from Modi government. As per protocol, the TDP officials made sure Amit Shah had completed the Darshan and handed the BJP leader prasadam.

"It seems to be a reaction to my comment that Naidu would have to face another Alipiri type of attack, if he tried to malign the BJP on the special category status issue".

The alleged stone-throwing incident happened when Shah was returning from Lord Venkateswara's shrine in Tirumala.

Following the last day of campaigning in Karnataka on Thursday, Amit Shah arrived in Tirupati amidst a huge security set up. Modi, in his speech, had promised to fulfill the commitments.
