But the White House killed the meme for good when it released a video of staffers dividing into Team Yanny and Team Laurel.

In a video published on the White House's official Instagram page, various members of the Trump administration and White House staff weigh in on the viral internet argument.

'Yanny's the victor, Laurel's the loser, ' she confidently declares. "But I could deflect and divert to Yanny if you need me to".

Vice President Mike Pence, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Trump's special adviser Kellyanne Conway were among those who attempted to answer the question in humorous ways.

We get that it's a joke, but come on, White House.

But hey, who knows what's real and what's right anymore?

A short explanation people's brain's perceive pitch and frequency differently and depending on the person you'll hear a different word.

Story also added that if you change the pitch of the original recording you can hear both words. The student, Katie Hetzel, said she searched for the word on Vocabulary.com, but when she played the pronunciation recording, she thought she was actually hearing "yanny".

"Clearly you are getting your information from CNN because that's fake news". Strategic-communications director Mercedes Schlapp says, "Yanny's the victor, Laurel's the loser".

Regarding the "Yanny" vs. "Laurel" debate, CBS News reported Twitter data shows 47 percent of people hear "Yanny", and 53 percent hear "Laurel".
