The 20-year-old woman now faces several charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Weinman claims she was targeted by police because family and friends were drinking nearby. "Once the officer says "you're under arrest", he has to continue with that arrest". "I didn't disrespect you". It was apparently reactivated as the two struggled in the sand. "Look I don't care who you are and what you are, the worst people [to try to subdue] are women". She tells them the unopened alcohol belongs to her aunt, who is on her way to the beach. He made those assertions based on her recollection before seeing the body camera footage, he told The Post. On Wednesday, police released body cam footage.

"I'm not choking", the officer says moments before punching her in front of a crowd of beachgoers. He said the city is taking an "aggressive stance" against underage drinking on the beach.

"Officers have to use only the modicum of force necessary to effect a lawful arrest".

"At one point, he says, 'You're causing a scene.' I think he caused the scene, not her", Dicht said.

The body camera footage released Wednesday afternoon shows an officer as he confronts and argues with Weinman over the discovery of alcoholic iced tea drinks in her possession.

On Tuesday, Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano Jr.'s comments alluded to Weinman spiting at the officers before the arrest, provoking them: "She assaults them, she spits at them, she kicks them. I didn't do anything to get written up, did I?"

Wildwood police asked anyone who was present and has video of the altercation to come forward to help their internal affairs investigation, in which Cape May County officers will also be assisting.

Authorities initially said Weinman kicked the officer in the genitals and ran off.

"Alright, you're about to get dropped", the officer says before the video cuts out because Weinman hits him in the chest, knocking the body camera. Then she turns around and spits toward the officers. "She probably would have just gotten a citation". Their names are Thomas Cannon, John Hillman and Robert Jordan, though it's unclear which officer hit Weinman. Maybe not, but then again maybe she did deserve it.

Meanwhile, Police Chief Robert Regalbuto told the newspaper: "From what I see on the video and only on the video, from not even talking to the officers, I think they did a decent job".

Weinman has a summons to appear in court on June 15.
