Catholic priest slaps baby then grabs its face during Christening

Angry priest slaps baby who wouldn’t stop crying during baptism The angry priest eventually lost his cool and slapped the baby

Two adults stood at the font, believed to be the young child's parents, are stunned and quickly try to wrestle the child away from the elderly religious man.

The child's relatives still appear to be smiling as the priest brings the baby's head towards his, but the baby reacts badly and flails its right arm towards the woman.

"I'm going to put water on the forehead, and after I'll embrace the young fellow", one user quoted the priest as saying. But 24 seconds into the video, the priest smacks the child on the cheek, eliciting louder cries and a gasp from the person filming.

"And then, I'll kiss the little kid - because he'll have become a little Christian".

The child's shocked relatives take the baby out of the clergyman's grip after he slapped it.

But when the crying doesn't stop, the priest seems to grow frustrated and slaps the baby in the face.

However, not quite enjoying the ceremony, the baby suddenly began crying out loudly.

The priest was heard saying afterwards: "There, you have to calm yourself, you have to calm yourself, there, there".

Eventually, the man believed to be the boy's father, yanks the boy away as the video cuts out.

The video, which was also posted on YouTube, has a French title that translates to "A priest slaps an infant during his baptism".

People have more than enough reasons to be outraged these days.
