'Star Trek: Discovery' Searches for Spock in First Season 2 Trailer

First Stills From Star Trek: Discovery Season Two Released First ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 2 Trailer Reveals the Enterprise

For starters, after regaling everyone - including new addition Anson Mount, who is playing Captain Christopher Pike - with my half-scale replica TOS communicator, TVLine invited the cast to reflect on the CBS All Access series' biggest Season 1 twists. It was created by the late Gene Roddenberry and featured characters including Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, and Vulcan officer Mr. Spock, played by the late Leonard Nimoy.

Today was a busy day at the San Diego Comic-Con, and there was plenty of news for fans waiting for the return of Discovery, which will take place in January 2019 according to Alex Kurtzman. "I can tell you that yes, you will be seeing Spock this season", said Kurtzman, during the Discovery Hall H panel earlier today.

Wilson Cruz will also circle back as Dr. Hugh Culber for the second season of Discovery.

Pike arrives in the classic yellow Star Trek: The Original Series uniform but quickly ditches it for the Discovery blue and gold. Variety announced that Rainn Wilson will reprise his role as Harry Mudd in an episode that he will direct. Aldis Hodge will appear in a second episode as a man named Craft, who finds that he is the only person aboard an empty starship. Yet another will take a closer look at Saru's (Doug Jones) backstory, the first Kelpien to join Starfleet. "They'll also introduce audiences to new characters who may inhabit the larger world of Star Trek". There's also a tease that Mr. Spock could be appearing later in the season as well. Throughout the trailer, he comes across as a no-nonsense presence, albeit one with a subtle sardonic wit that looks a good fit for the series. Kurtzman is clearly piloting (pun definitely intended) the series into thrilling new territory for its upcoming season - and that sounds like exactly what the show needs.
