Collusion not a crime? Not exactly the point

Trump has denied the affair allegation. Speaking to CNN's "New Day" on Monday, Giuliani said he wasn't sure if collusion was a crime.

Manafort is facing trial for bank and tax fraud charges levelled against him by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, as part of his investigation into the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US Presidential Election.

Giuliani would also appear on "Fox & Friends" on Monday to offer a similar claim.

Giuliani told The Daily Beast that this included reporters from The New York Times, such as the paper's star Trump reporter Maggie Haberman, who had reached out about the alleged pre-meeting meeting.

"Collusion is not a crime". "Is Robert Mueller ever going to release his conflicts of interest with respect to President Trump", Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

Now, however, the president and his personal lawyer are doubling down on the idea that collusion, even if it did occur, isn't illegal.

It has accused the Russians of hacking into Democrats' computers and stealing emails, and stoking tensions in the USA via social media.

Meanwhile, Jay Sekulow, another of Trump's personal lawyers, told Fox News on Tuesday that Mueller's Russian Federation investigation will find no evidence of collusion, before also stating that collusion is not a crime.

Alleged Russia's interference in the 2016 election, in which Trump won by Electoral College but lost to Clinton by nearly three million popular votes, led to the set-up of the special panel headed by Robert Mueller.

Trump weighed in a day after Giuliani said colluding with Russian Federation may not even be a crime - raising the possible legal defense even as he lowers the bar following a series of emphatic denials by Trump that there was collusion of any kind. "Well, that's not just technically correct. It's us, meaning the team of lawyers, including me, that have the most reservations about that". "But there's no violation of law, statute, rule or regulation that we have seen after reviewing this case for a year, and I think Bob Mueller will come to the same conclusion". Then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, also participated in that meeting. If it wishes, Congress could start impeachment proceedings against Trump.

Trump also argued Mueller could not be impartial in the probe because he worked for a law firm that had represented Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Trump and Giuliani's views of Cohen have soured recent weeks, especially after it was revealed that several audio recordings between the President and his former confidant were among evidence produced from the raids.
