Aaron Rodgers (knee) of Green Back Packers returns to game

Would you bet on the Bears because of the addition of Khalil Mack Would you bet on the Bears because of the addition of Khalil Mack

Aaron Rodgers was carted off the field in Sunday night's game against the Chicago Bears after landing awkwardly on his knee, a potentially huge blow for a team that has traditionally struggled without their franchise quarterback.

With just more than nine minutes remaining before half-time on Sunday, Rodgers went down and clutched his left leg after Bears defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris fell on him during a sack.

Kizer, who was on the field while Aaron Rodgers was being tended off the field with a knee injury, simply did not stand a chance of doing anything good against the Bears' ferocious defense.

It was Rodgers' first regular-season game home game since last September 28 against the Bears.

Green Bay's top return man, receiver Trevor Davis, is also out with a hamstring injury.

Rookie Oren Burks is out for the Packers' opener against the Chicago Bears, meaning either the recently acquired Antonio Morrison or Korey Toomer will start in his place at inside linebacker.

Was it Mack's lack of a preseason that stole a quarter step from him late in the game? On Kizer's next possession, Mack thwarted a strong Packers drive by picking off Kizer on a failed screen pass, rumbling 27 yards for a touchdown and a 17-0 Chicago lead.

Rodgers, 34, finished the game 20 of 30 for 286 yards (273 in the second half) and three touchdown passes, all in the fourth quarter. No other player on the Packers roster produced more than 25 receiving yards. The Bears were more than willing to pay the price, but they also got a little back, too. "We knew they were going to do some insane stuff to keep it simple; tackle over, lineman out at wide receiver spots, three guys in the backfield", Green Bay linebacker Blake Martinez said post-game. Rodgers didn't look right in the second half, moving very gingerly, not really planting on that leg on every throw, and just generally not being his normal, super mobile self. But as this touchdown pass will show, there's nothing wrong with his arm. "Again, I've talked about things being a puzzle and you have to make it fit, and you certainly don't want to put yourself in a bind going forward".

"Oh I'm playing next week", he replied.

Mitchell Trubisky was 23 of 35 for 171 yards. He broke Prince Amukamara's ankles and scored from 12 yards out after making a short catch, faking inside and breaking it back outside, but only after he completed a spinning catch for 51 yards three plays earlier.
