"We want our German friends to continue reposing trust in Turkey, Turkish economy and our country's future", Erdogan said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday expressed hope that his recent state visit to Germany will improve bilateral relations.

In a speech at the opening of parliament, Erdogan said the U.S. had lost credibility by engaging in trade wars globally.

Brunson is charged with links to Kurdish militants and supporters of Fethullah Gulen, the cleric blamed by Turkey for a failed coup attempt in 2016.

He said: "It is not our job to protect terrorists". Hundreds of people, including many from the Kurdish community, came out to the streets.

As Turkey proceeds ahead with the new presidential system, Erdogan recalled the challenges the country faces and vowed to "immediately" resolve issues.

Erdogan said that the United States administration tried to solve issues between the two countries "with the language of threat instead of dialogue".

During his stay in Berlin, Erdogan met twice with Chancellor Angela Merkel for talks, with both leaders signalling their interest in a cautious rapprochement, but also disagreements in a wide variety of issues.

Erdogan said Turkey's economy was overcoming what he described as "midnight operations" created to break it.

Erdogan said Turkey was determined to fight, within legal and diplomatic frameworks, "this crooked understanding, which imposes sanctions using the excuse of a pastor who is tried due to his dark links with terror organizations".

Turkey demanded, during a meeting with armed opposition faction in Idlib, withdrawal from demilitarized zones, according to Sochi deal between Russian president Vladimir Putin and Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
