Seattle Seahawks star defensive back Earl Thomas was just carted off of the field during his team's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

After the game, Coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Thomas had suffered a lower leg fracture.

"I don't know anything about that", Carroll said, via ESPN. "He's trying to play this game he loves and all the sudden, this happens again". "He had it all just totally figured out and this is as emotional as you can get".

As Emmanuel Acho pointed out (along with a number of other current and past players), this is exactly why Thomas was holding out in the first place earlier this year - he knew it was very possible for him to get injured and therefore not get paid. So give him a little slack.

Regardless of what happened when Thomas was carted off the field, everyone should hope that the injury isn't as serious as it looks.

Carroll gets it. Thomas knew all along.

It comes after a tumultuous few months between Thomas and the Seahawks.

Carroll also said the team will have to make a roster move over the next day or so to replace tight end Will Dissly, also out for the season with a patellar tendon injury.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Sunday morning that the Seahawks were looking for two second-round picks in exchange for Thomas. "Team owners such as Jerry Jones, who recently said of the National Football League players he employs, "[they're] paid a lot of money to go out and incur those type [of] situations that have more risks in them". Thomas said upon his return that he determined that he had too much money to lose - $500,000 in weekly game checks - if he were to continue his holdout into the regular season.
