Melania Trump puts on happier face during Africa tour

First Lady Melania Trump criticised for 'colonial' hat choice in Kenya Melania Trump in Egypt to tour pyramids, Sphinx

She dismissed reports about alleged derogatory comments reportedly made by President Donald Trump about African countries and said the issue had not come up on her visit.

"Many Africans took offense at the white pith helmet simply because it hearkens back to a time in their culture and their history where it wasn't necessarily the best for them", Bennett added.

"I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear", she said, before posing for pictures in front of some of Egypt's greatest landmarks.

Personally, I think the US First Lady's decision to wear a pith helmet is appropriate.

Even in the lead-up to the 2016 election and afterwards, Ms Trump was largely hidden in the background, while Mr Trump's eldest daughter Ivanka was dubbed the "unofficial First Lady".

With the Great Sphinx of Gaza looming in the background, first lady Melania Trump weighed in on a number of topics Saturday, including the media obsession with her wardrobe, Brett Kavanaugh's qualifications for the Supreme Court and her view of his chief accuser's testimony, as well as her confession that sometimes she lobbies the tweeter-in-chief to put down his phone.

"This is Melania Trump wearing a colonial hat in kenya. This represents the impearism of the west on Africa yet she chose it", another said.

This isn't the first time Trump has been discussed on social media for her style choices.

The first lady of the USA - a unusual, technically unelected, position which really seems to exist only to free the manly president's mind from silly girly things like children's health and the arts - wears clothes.

She also visited a site where 105 tons of ivory was burned as part of an effort to discourage the trade. Its pledge to make cyberbullying one of her main aims prompted derision from the public, given her husband's notorious Twitter account and history of attacking people online.

She was accompanied by Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled Anani and Egyptian Minister of Tourism Rania al-Mashat.

What, then, was her intended message for Africa?

It's not the first time Trump has been in the news for an outfit. "We used to see it sometimes with Michelle Obama". Speaking to the New York Times past year, he explained why he took the job.

"I don't always agree what he tweets", she said in a rare, unscripted interaction with reporters.

She toured indoor and outdoor classrooms, observed lessons and watched some students play soccer with balls she donated.

And yet, in that ideal world, the First Lady would actually have something to say. That being said, it seems like she is sick and exhausted of people worrying about her wardrobe.
