To make it more affordable, Samsung have to cut a few corners.

According to South Korean publication ETNews, Samsung will rely exclusively on a Qualcomm-based in-display fingerprint scanner. Bloomberg goes even further assuming that the fingerprint reader beneath the screen will be present for the Galaxy S10, just like the Huawei Mate 20 (prohibited from sale in the US once again)... but also the camera front!

The ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 may not be remembered for a happy reason today but it was the first Samsung phone to come with an iris scanner. It is possible that Samsung might reveal their foldable device before LG in November. Then again, Samsung may have something else planned for the "V", and the Galaxy S10 may end up rocking an Infinity-V display next year.

With Samsung also said to have a foldable phone in the works for 2019, it should be interesting to see which of the South Korean companies can be first to market, as well as debut the more appealing foldable device.

At CES 2018, LG Display demonstrated the 65-inch rollable OLED prototype, which also happened to have UHD (4K) resolution with cinematic 21:9 ratio option that rolled neatly into a box a fraction of its size.

For starters, let's summarize what we know so far.

Samsung coined "Infinity Display" a year ago when it launched the Galaxy S8. But while those details can't be confirmed right now, we do have an indication of what Samsung may call the phone's screen. This may mean that you'll only be able to make use of the full 48MP or 32MP with good lighting conditions. Having two screens on its upcoming foldable would obviously allow for more unique features, but would also give Samsung an advantage over single-display designs that don't offer the same amount of screen real estate. Whilst it is great to see Samsung flourish at a time of slow growth and an extremely highly competitive market, it would seem its mobile division isn't travelling all that well and is a concern for the company going forward.
