Copa Libertadores final: SHOCK footage from inside Boca bus, windows SMASHED

An attack on the Boca Juniors team bus by River Plate fans left Boca players coughing and teary eyed amid the glass of smashed windows ahead of the Argentine giants' "superclasico" Copa Libertadores final second leg on Saturday.

Things got wild when a Boca team-bus tried to wind its way through the streets of Buenos Aires en route to the stadium amid a sea of River Plate fans, who hurled projectiles at the vehicle as it sped past.

A number of players, including Boca's former Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, were reportedly suffering from dizziness and vomiting and being treated by club doctors.

A video taken on a phone inside the bus shows Boca players chanting only to fall abruptly silent as the first missile strikes.

After initially appearing to postpone the match, Conmebol eventually made a decision to call off the game until Sunday - 5pm local time, 8pm in the UK.

The final is finely poised at 2-2 after the first leg two weeks ago. Perez came back from hospital - his eye bandaged - and would have been ill-advised to take the field.

Despite the damage done to the bus, and the injuries suffered, Conmebol was reported to be forcing the game to go ahead. "We can't play like this".

Boca Juniors has won the competition six times, most recently in 2007. His colleagues, even with time to recover from the effects of ingesting a toxic substance, could not possibly have been at their psychological peak for what is nearly certainly the biggest game they will ever play and the biggest game in the history of South American club football.

Dominguez said: "We came to this situation because of a group of misfits that do not understand that this is a sport, that football is not this, that it should be fun and peace. I understand there is a lot of pressure on the presidents right now but I believe they have to do their job".

Second, physical injury was suffered by at least two Boca players as a outcome of splinters of glass from the broken windows. A lot of players suffered.

Following hours of uncertainty, the game was finally postponed and re-scheduled for Sunday, 8pm GMT, with the news being announced via the stadium PA system.

The two teams agreed to play Sunday evening instead of delaying the match start a few hours as originally planned, the president of the South American Football Confederation told reporters.

Predictably, there has been plenty of reaction to the madness in Argentina on Twitter, with ex-players, fans and pundits alike giving their opinion.
