MC Mary Kom was the queen and the Indira Gandhi Stadium her queendom as she stormed into final of the Women's World Boxing Championship here Thursday, staying on course for an unprecedented sixth gold. Nevertheless, the 35-year-old, who had gotten better of her younger rival in the final to win the Asian championships title last year, will have to be careful against the North Korean, who may have revenge on her mind.

Mary Kom has earlier won a silver medal in the first edition of the World Championships and went on a rampage from 2002 to 2010 when she won 5 successive gold medals at the Championships.

Mary Kom, a mother of three children, is now tied with Ireland icon Katie Tyler in the all-time list of gold medal wins by a women boxer in world championships. "I am happy that I am in the final", she said after the bout.

The Assamese boxer gets her chance to avenge her only loss to the Chinese Taipei opponent, Chen Nien-Chin. Once I study the opponent in the first round I know how to tackle her.

In the final, Mary Kom will face Ukrain's Hanna Okhota whom the Indian had beaten in a tournament in Poland this year. "I have worked with the coaches and have a plan in place to counter her", said Mary Kom, after a strenuous practice session Wednesday.

She beat Kim past year to clinch her fifth Asian Championship title, but was not underestimating her opponent.

She also added: "My opponent was taller than me and strong also". At present, Mary and Katie Taylor of Ireland have both five titles each but the Indian will have the opportunity to be in a league of her own on Saturday. "I am confident of winning because I have worked with the coaches on my strategies", said Sonia.

May has no surprises in store as she meets Hyang Mi Kim again. Unfortunately, Lovlina received a warning from the referee in the third round for hitting at the back of the head of the opponent and one point was cut from all the five judges.

Debutant Lovlina's "ultimate goal is to win gold here".

"According to me, the bout was all right but not that good as I would have expected".

"I just can not believe that I have reached the final".

On Friday, two more Indians are in the fray in the semifinals.

"I have worked hard and am prepared well for my bout", she said. Sonia Chahal will take on Hwa Son Jo of North Korea in 57kg while Simranjit Kaur will square off against Dan Dou Of China in 64kg.
